An Australian woman, Adriana Ocampo, found herself in a predicament when her carry-on luggage exceeded the maximum weight limit of seven kilos during a flight from Melbourne to Adelaide. In an attempt to avoid paying the hefty excess baggage fee, she decided to wear all her extra clothes to reduce the weight of her suitcase. Adriana, accompanied by her friend, piled on nearly six kilos of clothing, including jackets, jumpers, trousers, and t-shirts. However, despite her efforts, the viral hack didn't work, and she still ended up being fined by the airline.
In a video that gained traction online, Adriana can be seen wearing multiple layers of clothing, resembling a bear. The situation garnered attention from fellow passengers who laughed and stared at the unusual sight, causing some annoyance and embarrassment for Adriana and her friend. Despite their creative attempts, their luggage was still over the weight limit, resulting in a $65 fine from the airline.
Jetstar, the airline in question, responded to the incident, acknowledging the humor in the situation but emphasizing the importance of carrying limits to ensure fairness and meet safety requirements for all passengers. The airline spokesperson stated that tracking the baggage weight onboard allows sufficient room for everyone's belongings.
