Jasprit Bumrah, a renowned pacer for the Mumbai Indians, is reportedly going to miss the entire IPL 2023 with a back injury he's been dealing with since last year. If India makes it to the ICC World Test Championship final in June, Bumrah could also be unable to play.
It would take the pacer another six months to fully recuperate, according to PTI.
This means that Bumerah cannot participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year. There is still a chance he could return at that point. Our sights are set on the 50-over World Cup, but even that is not assured "The news outlet cited an unnamed BCCI source.
The BCCI medical staff reportedly recommended surgery to cope with his back problems, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. After speaking with Bumrah and the National Cricket Academy, the board will soon make a judgment in this regard.
Bumrah had been sidelined with a back injury since the Asia Cup, but he made his comeback in September during a Twenty20 International series at home against Australia.
However, it flared up again, putting a stop to his participation in the T20 World Cup and also preventing him from traveling to New Zealand and Bangladesh later that year.
He was a late addition to the Indian side for a home white-ball series against Sri Lanka in January while still recovering at the NCA.
Bumrah complained of pain during the effort, and a new injury has since kept him from participating in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Cup.
India's captain, Rohit Sharma, stated last month that the organization is giving the 29-year-old all the time he needs to get well. We are in regular contact with medical professionals at NCA, including physiotherapists and doctors. The doctors and nurses would give him all the time he needs, "What Rohit informed the media.
