The 23-crore T Nagar skywalk project, which has been delayed for more than a year, is scheduled to open by the end of February.

According to S Rajendiran, chief engineer of the city corporation, the only outstanding task is the construction of the lift, and that should be completed in a week.

"Wheelchair access will be available at our establishment. The elevator and skywalk are available to them "remarked the head engineer.

The yellow pedestrian bridge connects the Mambalam train station with the T Nagar Madley Road interchange. Congestion will be reduced along the major thoroughfares of the route as a result.

There are about 30,000 daily commuters using the Mambalam train station, and thousands more who walk to the T Nagar neighborhood for shopping, according to officials. Such individuals will be aided by this bridge. The total length of the bridge is 600 meters, and its width is 4. Because of the Covid-19 epidemic, progress on the project slowed during the previous two years, but things picked up speed in 2022. The governmental body has already completed 95 per cent of its mission.

Mahesh Kumar, the deputy mayor, has been checking in on the skywalk's development and has ordered the remaining work to be completed as soon as possible. There will be daily inspections, according to the authorities, to make sure no vendors or pavement merchants are blocking the walkway.
